Meet the Founder
Hello, I'm Dr. Barbara Jeanette Andrews
Founder and Executive Director of The Open Arm Foundation.
At The Open Arm Foundation, we are dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of those in need. Our mission is to provide sustainable living essentials and resources to families and individuals with children facing financial hardship and various other challenges associated with living in poverty. From offering economic development and social justice initiatives via our Community Sharing program (Mobile Essential Needs Pantry) and Mothers Loving Events (Intergenerational Brunch focusing on overcoming trauma associated with Domestic Violence), we strive to create a world where everyone has the chance to thrive and live healthy and productive lives.
I hold a Doctor of Business Administration degree from Argosy University Chicago, which has bolstered my strong decision-making and analytical skills. These skills have been instrumental in training other business leaders to navigate and overcome the real-world challenges businesses face regularly. I also hold a Master of Science degree from Roosevelt University and a Bachelor of Science degree from Chicago State University.
I'm deeply committed to making a positive impact on my community, driven by my unwavering passion for helping others. Over the past 10 years, I have dedicated my time and resources to supporting underprivileged families, believing in the transformative power of giving back. Whether through organizing community outreach programs, providing free essentials needs, or mentoring young professionals, My actions will consistently reflect my heartfelt dedication to enhancing the lives of those around me. My goal is to inspire many, creating a ripple effect of kindness and support within the community.
